Facebook Would Soon Allow You To Set Voice Clips As Status Updates

Social media giant Facebook is testing a new feature that allows users to record a short audio snippet as a status update.

This new feature which is called "Add Voice Clip" acts as a status update option and it appears in Facebook's status update composer menu.
Facebook hopes to revitalize and get people to share more on its social media. This feature would come handy especially to people who want to share their status in their native but tongue but can't because of non-native language keyboard. This feature would, however, let them voice out their mind without any typing barrier.

"We are always working to help people share and connect with their friends and family on Facebook in ways that are authentic to them. Voice Clips gives a new medium through which to express themselves," Techcrunch quoted a Facebook spokesperson explaining the use of the new feature.

The Facebook spokesperson didn't disclose much on when the Add Voice Clip feature would be rolled out officially.

Facebook is also building two voice-enabled smart speakers namely; Aloha and Fiona. The Aloha model which will be marketed under the name "Portal", will have voice commands capabilities and also feature facial recognition to identify users for accessing Facebook through the help of a wide-angle lens on the front of the device.

The Fiona and Aloha smart speakers are to be launch in July this year.
