Nearly 7 Million User Photos Exposed In New Facebook Bug Issue

Social network giant, on Friday announced that a software bug affected nearly 7 million of the platform users, exposing a broader set of photos to app developers than those intended.

According to the congressional hearings regarding the company's failure to safe guard its 2.27 billion users data.

Facebook is also set to face another probe by an international committee consisting of 22 members from 7 countries. This panel consist of elected members from the parliament of Argentina, Canada, Lativia, Singapore, Brazil, the vice president of policy for Europe, the Middle east and Africa (EMEA), and members of the UK Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

Despite Facebook's scandals, its massive user base hasn't shrinked, though growth has slowed.

Apple Sued For Hiding Notch In Iphone Xs And Xs Max Adverts

A Californian woman has filed a law suit against Apple, claiming she was tricked by the marketing images used by the Cupertino company to promote the iPhone Xs and Xs Max.

According to Business Insider, Courtney Davis, a resident of Northern District of California has dragged Apple to court for its deceptive marketing strategy of hiding the notch in advertisement displaying the iPhone Xs and Xs Max.

Images Apple used in promoting the iPhone Xs and Xs Max all have a dark background that obscures the notch, which many people believe Apple intentionally used it to hide the notch so as to boost sales.


The woman explained that she pre-ordered the iPhone Xs Max believing that it didn't have the notch, which is, based on the promotional images Apple used.

The lawsuit read, "Images that disguise the missing pixels on the Products' screens are prominent on Defendant's website, as well as in the advertisements of  retailers who sells the products."

Another complaint made by the woman is that Apple displayed false pixel count on its website that the pixels in the rounded corners should never have been counted.

The lawsuit asks Apple for compensation for damages and seeks a class action status.

How To Check If Your Photos Were Affected In Last Week Facebook Bug

Last week Friday, Facebook announced that a software bug had affected 6.8 million users of the social network platform, exposing many photos than intended to developers.

The social network giant said that the bug which was an issue with Facebook's photos API, granted third-party apps access to photos of Facebook users who had granted them access to photos shared on their timeline.

Facebook said the bug which lasted for 12 days also gave about 1,500 apps built by 876 developers access to photos shared on Marketplace or Facebook Stories, and as well as those photos that were uploaded on Facebook but weren't posted due to technical reason or some sort.


Facebook has however, fixed the issue and are instructing developers to delete the photos that were shared unintendedly.

The Social network giant is also requesting users to login and check their account if they were impacted in the software bug issue.

"We recommend logging into any apps where you've shared your Facebook photos to check which photos they have access to do so and isn't related to," Facebook said, including what users can do if they "want to contact an app developer."

Pubg Mobile 0.10.0 Update With Vikendi Snow Map Now Live

PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) Mobile 0.10.0 update has brought Vikendi Snow Map to the battle royale game, and Tencent Games has confirmed when users will be able to play it..

According to a tweet from the official PUBG handle, the release date for PUBG Mobile Vikendi Snow Map release date is December 20 and start time and date is 5:30am IST on December 21 when it will be available or matchmaking.

 The major changes in PUBG Mobile 0.10.0 is the addition of Vikendi Snow Map. The map which is 6x6km size Artic landscape covered in snow is the fourth map that has been added after Erangel, Miramar and Sanhok. Mind you, the map is larger than Sanhok, but smaller when compared to Erangel and Miramar.


Other changes in the new update includes support for the Arabic language, cross-server matchmaking, season spending rewards, ability to report suspicious behavior while in spectator mode and new upgrade system which allows players to upgrade weapon finishes to get new kill effects.

This update also adjusts the user interface elements on smartphone displays with three settings: a "Notch" display settings that don't get hidden under the notch while the user is playing, a 16:9 setting and a "Rounded Corners" settings for 18:9 display.

The Vikendi Snop Map is live in PUBG PC Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (Public Test Servers) and playable for PC users. Xbox and PS4 owners will be able to play on the new map in January 2019.

For now, PUBG Mobile Vikendi Snow Map has been added on to the Mobile servers and its 2.0GB in size, though, it is not available for users to play for now until December 21.

Password management company, SplashData has revealed the 25 worst passwords used in 2018 in its yearly "Worst Passwords" reports. You will be surprised to find that some weak passwords published the previous year are still gaining grounds with Internet users.

According to the password management company, the essence of the publication was to encourage netizens to avoid those passwords, and use something stronger to avoid falling easy prey to hackers in the new year.


"Our hope by publishing this list each year is to convince people to take steps to protect themselves online," Morgan Slain, CEO of SplashData said.

"It's a real head-scratcher that will all the risks known, and with so many highly publicized hacks such as Marriot and the National Republican Congressional Committee, that people continue putting themselves at such risk year-after-year," Slain added.

The company came up with the list of weak passwords after evaluating over 5 million guessable passwords leaked on the Internet, which puts anyone using them at risks of easily getting hacked and having their identity used for nefarious purpose(s).

Using popular terms, celebrity names, keyboard patterns to create passwords is not encouraged. This list surprisingly, even has the US presidents name "Donald".

"Using your name or any common name as a password is a dangerous decision," Slain said. "Hackers have great success using celebrity names, terms from pop culture and sports, and simple keyboard patterns to break into accounts online because they know so many people using those easy-to-remember combinations."

According to P0rnhub, 71.6% of its traffic came from mobile phones, 8.7% from Tablets and 19.7% from Desktop. This stats compared to last year, is an 8% gain for mobile phone users and an 8% decline for tablet users, and an 18% decline for Desktop.


From the total mobile phone traffic, Android powered devices made up 54% of the visitors worldwide, while iPhones and iPads made up 44.4%. Windows mobile users account for 0.3% of the visitors, while the remaining 0.9% was classified as others.

There was a 2% slump in visitors of P0rnhub from devices running Apple's mobile iOS, while Android powered device gain 2%. Note that some events and happenings caused traffic to rise and drop on P0rnhub. During Apple's Gather Round event held on September 12 for the launch of th 2018 iPhone models, P0rnhub recorded an 11% decline in P0rnhub viewers using iOS device.

For the browsers, Chrome topped by Safari browser by 1% margin. I know you will be wondering why the Chrome browser didn't receive a wide margin over Safari since there are many Android users than those on iOS.

Gboard Now Supports Over 500 Languages

Google has announced that the Gboard now supports over 500 languages. Launched in December 2016, the Google keyboard app back then had support for about 100 different languages. Since then, Google has been frequently updating it with new languages and features..

While announcing Gboards support of over 500 languages, the Internet giant announced that the latest Gbaord update will support an additional 50 languages. Adding that more than 90% of the world can type in their first language with Gboard


"Today, Gboard offers more than 500 language varieties on Android, bringing a smart, Al-driven typing experience to many more people around the world," Google said in a blog post. Adding that "more than 90% of the world can now type in their first language with Gboard, with keyboard layouts tailored to each language and typing smarts like autocorrect and predictive text."

Gboard is compatible with more than 40 different scripts used to write around the world. Example of such is the Roman script used for many languages including English, and Cyrillic script used in many parts of eastern European. Another is the Ol Chiki used only for one language (Ol Chiki).

Google said the aim of the Gboard is to help users communicate in a manner that ok and natural, not minding the spoken by the person.

"Our goal is to help you communicate in a way that's comfortable and natureal, regardless of the language you speak," Google said.

Gionee's Ceo Losses Company Funds In Casino Bet, Company Declares Bankruptcy, Owes $3 Billion

Chinese smartphone maker Gionee, has officially filed for bankruptcy in which it owes 20.2 billion Chinese Yuan ( roughly $3 billion) to 648 creditors

 Local media reports on Thursday said that a court in Shenzham has accepted Gionee's application for liquidation bankruptcy.

According to an interview with Securitties, Liu Lirong, Gionee founder and CEO admitted that Gionee's total debt amount to 17 billion Yuan, with 10 billion yuan owned to banks, 5 billion yuan to upstream suppliers and about 2 billion yuan to ad agencies.


Liu claims that Gionee was loosing about 100 million yuan ($14.4 million) a month between 2013 and 2015. The company's chief further claimed that the losses per month doubled in the last two years.

To add to its woes, Gionee's boss lost a 1 billion yuan ($144 million) bet in a casino. Liu however said he didn't use company's money, but admitted to have borrowed company funds for the gamble.

Gionee still believes things can turn around. Last week, the company hired restructuring consultants to help the company get back to its feet. Gionee's CEO says it take the company about 3 - 5 years for this to turn-around.

After Chinese Ban, A German Court Too Has Banned Iphone Products In Country Only If...

A German court yesterday, passed a ruling in favour of US chipmaker Qualcomm in a dispute with Apple over patents infringements. The ruling could lead to a ban on sales of iPhones in Germany.

The patent claims in the dispute by the US chipmaker affects Apple's products, such as the iPhone 7, 7plus, 8, 8plus, and the X.

"The ruling effectively outlaws the offering and placing on the market of the finished product in Germany, including the sale. The iPhone 7plus, 7, 8, 8plus and the X are affected," the regional Munich court said.


However, since Apple can appeal the ruling from a higher court, the court said the injunction banning the sales of the affected Apple products can only be imposed if Qualcomm made a deposit of 668.4 million euros ($765 million) to serve as security, if things later goes in favour of Apple.

The 668.4 million euros the court is demanding is to serve as compensation to Apple if it carries out the injunction, and then a higher court overrules it.

Qualcomm and Apple, the two US tech companies whose headquarters are in California have been at logger heads with each other over royalties and patents. The two tech giants have taken their battle worldwide.

On Monday this week, a court in China banned the import of the above selected Apple products from the country, following the Qualcomms lawsuits against Apple.

Facebook Love Lands Indian Man In Pakistani Jail For 6 Years

They say "Real love haves no geography, knows no boundaries." Yeah, this guy just proved it to us but instead he is advising everyone not to follow his example and avoid falling in love online.

According to the AFP, an Indian man, Hamid Hehal Ansari has been released after being jailed for 6 years in Pakistan.

AFP explained that Hamid Hehal Ansari who was released this week is said to have entered illegally entered Pakistan from Afghanistan in 2012 to meet a woman he had fallen in love with on social media, Facebook to be precise.


 Hamid Hehal Ansari who is an engineer, was later jailed for spying and forging documents to enter the country.

"Do not be emotional about strangers and don't fall in love on social media including Facebook," Ansari told AFP after returning to India.

"Getting deported was the happiest moment of my life," the 33-year-old later said from his phone in his home in Mumbai.


Images taken by local media showed Ansari hugging his mother and bowing to touch his head to the ground after crossing over to India at an overland border on Tuesday.

After this encounter, Ansari don't plan on returning back to any social network again as he now plans to settle down, start a business, get married and rebuild his life.

"(Now that i'm back, i will) start a business, get married and work on building back my life. No more social for me," Ansari said.

India-Pakistan relationship can be described as hostile due to many historical and political factors. The two have fought three wars ever since they independence from Britain in 1947, and they often arrests each others citizen on spying charges.

Xiaomi's Newly Launched Mint Browser Is Super Fast, Very Light And Occupies Less Memory

Xiaomi has launched a light and super fast browser that won't eat much of your storage on your Android device.

Called Mint Browser, the Xiaomi browsing app weighs just 11MB in size and doesn't discriminate against other low-end Android devices as other browsers does. Xiaomi has done a lot of low-end devices, though the company didn't say, it seems this browser was made to accommodate devices of that category.


Xiaomi's Mint Browser is fast, light and it matches the speed of Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers for Android. There's a Pinch and Zoom feature, Reading, Incognito and Dark modes.

Once you download the browser and open it, you will a Google search kafe with shortcut icons to Google, Quora, Gmail etc. At the button is a microphone icon that provides speech recognition for Google search queries.

The app can be downloaded on the Google Play Store. Mind you, there are other apps that bear the same name but isn't Xiaomi's.

Microsoft Launcher App Update Brings Cortana Support, Sticky Notes, To-Do And More

Microsoft has released an update to its Android launcher app, adding new support for some of its other mobile app like Sticky Notes, To-Do and Cortana support.

This new support added to the v5.1.0 of Microsoft launcher app has been available in the beta version of the app, and has been undergoing test for a while now.

For those who don't know what Microsoft Launcher is all about, the Android application allow users to personalize the look and feel of their Android device by customizing the wallpaper, theme, icon packs, gestures, accent and more to give it a different look.


Here are the new update and changes to the Microsoft Launcher app version 5.1.0:

• Tack your screen time, app usage and phone unlocks with the new screen time card. You can even use the screen time widget to view this informasi on your home screen;
• The Launcher To Do card shows tasks from apps like Microsoft To Do, Outlook and Skype.
• The Launcher Notes card now shows your Notes from Sticky Notes on Windows, Outlook, Cortana and OneNote mobile;

Social networking platform Snapchat has launched lenses specially made for dogs. Shortly after the launch of Snapchat lens, the social networking platform notes that most users tried using the feature on their pets.

Due to the high demand for this feature, last month, Snapchat rolled out an update that then made it possible for users to be able to use this feature for their cats. Before the update, those who tried using the feature on their cats didn't get a nice result as the feature as of then, was made for human faces alone.

Now Snapchat seems to go a step further by making their lenses compatible with dogs. Yes, Snapchat has launched special lenses that are meant to work on your dogs.


Given the high demand for this feature on Snapchat, this feature is sure to become very popular with dog owners all round the globe.

Snapchat is trying to get more people on its platform by introducing features that will keep them engaged.

Adguard Officially Launch It's Own Dns Service,Supports Android Device

After testing its DNS beta service for over 2 years plus, Adguard has finally launched the official release of it's DNS service.

What is DNS anyway? DNS stands for Domain Name System, is the phonebook or phone directory of the Internet. Whenever we want to access online information via domain names like techfoe.com, google.com, etc, we type the name of the domain we want to visit. However, Web browsers won't understand our request because they interact via Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to load Internet Internet resources. Now this is where a DNS comes in to translate a domain to an IP address for the Web browsers.


Though they are many choice when it comes to DNS service, Adguard says that their own DNS service is privacy focused.

Adguard supports DNSCrypt, DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPs. These protocols help in protecting users information from man-in-the-middle attacks, eavesdropping, hijacking, tracking etc. An encryption is created between the communicating device and the DNS server to protecting the users data.

Android devices (Android 9) has built-in support for DNS-over-TLS while DNS-over-HTTPS don't support Droid device for now, though Adguard is working on the next version for Android devices.

There are two versions of Adguard DNS that are available. There's a normal version for the regular use, and a Family protection version. The Family protection version blocks adult content and ensures that theres a Safe Search in search engines.

Popular messaging platform WhatsApp in 2016 announced that it was ending support for a number of mobile devices.

The Facebook owned messaging service listed mobile devices such as Windows Phone 8.0, Blackberry 10, Android phones running on version 2.3.7 and older ones, iPhone devices running on iOS 7 and older, Nokia Symbian S60, and Nokia S40 will no longer be able to run WhatsApp by 2020.

WhatsApp has already ended support for Blackberry mobile devices, Windows 8 mobile, older iPhones and Nokia Symbian S60 devices.

Well, WhatsApp will stop working on any person's device running Nokia's S40 OS after today (31/12/2018).

The Nokia S40 is a very popular OS running Nokia devices such as the Asha 201, Asha 205, Asha 210, Asha 230, Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502, Asha 503, Asha 206, Asha 208, Asha 301, and Asha 515


Infact, so popular were the S40 devices that Nokia announced on 25 January 2013 that it had sold over 1.5 billion of it.

Initially, support for devices running the Nokia S40 OS was supposed to end this year in June. However, WhatsApp decided to extend it till December, and now it seems nothing is going to save it from being axed from running the popular messaging service.

"This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp," WhatsApp said in a blog post.

"If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone to continue using WhatsApp," WhatsApp added.

The messaging service in a twist, extended the deadline to February 1, 2020 for Android devices running OS 2.3.7 and iPhones running on iOS 7.

Chinese Boy Who Sold His Kidney To Buy An Iphone Now Disabled For Life

There's a saying that says, "iPhones don't come cheap". Yeah, purchasing an iPhone will cost you.... but the craze for it shouldn't make you trade your kidney for it!!

A young man in China has been bedridden for life 7 years after selling his kidney in order for him to buy an iPhone.

According Chinese media Oriental Daily, Xiao Wang, now 24, sold one of his kidney when he was 17-year-old to enable him purchase iPhone 4 which had become a status symbol in his school at that time.

iPhone at Wang's school was seen as a must have item among students. Infact, whichever student that owned that piece of Apple's gadget was considered more "atas" than other students.

The report says Wang sold his kidney for 22,000 Yuan ($3,200) which was more than enough for him to purchase the iPhone 4.


The operation was performed by an underground hospital who told Wang that after a week of  recovery, he would be able to live a normal life with the single kidney.

"Unfortunately, the operating environment wasn't sanitized properly, which led to an infection on his wound," the report said.

To make it worst, his parents never knew of his operation and only became aware when the teen had become terribly ill from the infection. By the time Wang sought for proper treatment at a standard hospital, the situation of his kidney had already gotten worse.

Xiao's family soon become plunged in financial crises due to the expenses of Xiao's dialysis treatment. The expenses here isn't the problem... the bad news is that no matter the money spend on Xiao, his health will never improve. He will remain that way for the rest of his days.

The report says both the arbitrator and the illegal hospital who performed the surgery have been brought to book, and Xiao's family have been well compensated in monetary form.
