A mysterious hacker in Australia has hijacked a local police radio broadcasts and has kept playing NWA "F**K Tha Police" for repeatedly for several days.
The song which was sang by 1990's Los Angeles rap group NWA features criticizing police conducts.
According to the Otago coastal acting area commander, Inspector Kelvin Lloyd, said the expletive rap music which has been transmitting on police radio for days now has been interfering with armed offenders squad (AOS) call-out, thereby putting people in danger.
The transmission interfered a call-out to the AOS about a man pointing a gun at a motorist in Omaru.
"It was putting people in danger.
"There's no question that if it carries on and if they do what they're doing it will delay a response."
Police radios have also picked up several versions of the "F**k Tha Police" song by American rock grup band Rage Against the machine.
Inspector Lloyd explained that no police radios were missing which means the transmission was been made from another source. The Inspector said the transmission wasn't made from a police radio as those from the police required specific chargers which be difficult to source for.
"Any interference with a police radio constitute a risk to public safety, and anyone caught doing this can face a penalty of criminal nuisance and up to one year imprisonment."
Last year August, there were reports of someone broadcasting pig grunts and abuse over police radios in the lower North Island.
Another incident happened in which a hacker hijacked a police broadcast and then called off the police from an armed robbery chase.
