Samsung To Release The Galaxy S9 In February At The Mwc

Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will be unveiled in late February, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and is expected to go on sale in March.

The Galaxy S9 was rumoured to be unveiled at the ongoing Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, but  however, DJ Koh refuted the rumours at a press conference saying the flagship device would be released at the Mobile World Congress next month.

According to the Samsung chief, the Galaxy S9 will have major updates. These updates include an upgrade to Bixby, Samsung artificial intelligence assistant. Some tweaks would be added to the camera, a rear finger print scanner, an increased internal storage capacity, and an Exynos 9810 chip which may bring similar features of the iPhone X Face ID and Animoji.

The device will still maintain the design similar to that of the Galaxy S8.

The launch of the Galaxy S9 at the MWC 2018 follows Samsung usual launch cycle which began with the Galaxy S5, S6 and S7 launch in Barcelona. The S8 wasn't launched last year at the MWC due to the long tests carried out to ensure that batteries were safe so as to prevent the Note 7 incident from repeating itself.
