Google has announced that the Gboard now supports over 500 languages. Launched in December 2016, the Google keyboard app back then had support for about 100 different languages. Since then, Google has been frequently updating it with new languages and features..
"Today, Gboard offers more than 500 language varieties on Android, bringing a smart, Al-driven typing experience to many more people around the world," Google said in a blog post. Adding that "more than 90% of the world can now type in their first language with Gboard, with keyboard layouts tailored to each language and typing smarts like autocorrect and predictive text."
Gboard is compatible with more than 40 different scripts used to write around the world. Example of such is the Roman script used for many languages including English, and Cyrillic script used in many parts of eastern European. Another is the Ol Chiki used only for one language (Ol Chiki).
Google said the aim of the Gboard is to help users communicate in a manner that ok and natural, not minding the spoken by the person.
"Our goal is to help you communicate in a way that's comfortable and natureal, regardless of the language you speak," Google said.
