Google Working On A Built-In Dark Mode Feature For Android Q

Over the past year, we have seen Google products such as Google News, YouTubeMessages, the Pixel Launcher, Phone, Maps and a couple of other apps getting the eyes friendly and battery less consuming dark mode feature.

Android users for long have waited for Google to integrate a dark mode feature in the Android OS, with most users hoping that the Internet giant will bring the dark mode in Android Pie, and only to be disappointed when it finally came out.

Well, all hopes are not lost as the latest development suggests that Google is working on a system wide dark mode for the next version of Android operating system, Android Q.

According to Android Police, a post on the Chromium bug tracker made by a Google by the name of Lukas Zbylut stated that:

"Dark mode is an approved Q feature [....] The Q team wants to ensure that all preloaded apps support dark mode natively. In order to ship dark successfully. We need all UI elements to be ideally themed dark by May 2019."

Androidpolice notes that there are several links to internal documents that they can't access, however, notes that the "dark mode is a serious undertaking at Android HQ."

A system-wide dark mode is one of the most requested feature Android users have been clamouring for. So strong is this demand that Android maker(s) have decided to implement it their own interface. Even the latest Samsung's One UI has a system-wide dark mode, and it looks very impressive.

The Dark mode is a feature every phone should have. Its good for the eyes, saves battery by consuming less power (especially for OLED display devices which will save them extra juice when using such feature).
