Meizu Launches Port-Less, Sim-Less, Hole-Less, Button-Less Zero Phone

Meizu last week launched the Meizu Zero smartphone, a device with no physical buttons, no ports or even SIM-tray slot

The Meizu Zero device uses eSIM in place of the SIM-tray, pressure sensitive volume and power button using its mEngine 2.0 tech. The device doesn't also have the 3.5mm audio jack or the USB-Type C port for charging. Instead, users will rely on Bluetooth connectivity for audio and Super mCharge wireless for charging.

Meizu Zero sport an in-screen Fingerprint scanner that has a button bezel and small chin above in place of a notch or display hole. The sides of the device are very thin as those seen on Samsung's flagship devices.
Though the company hasn't released much information regarding the specs, the company says that the device will run on Flyme 7-based on Android version that wasn't mentioned. The device will come with a Super AMOLED display of 5.99-inch 1080x2160 pixels FHD+ resolution and 2.5D curved glass protection.

There's a vertical dual camera setup at the back of the device that houses a 12MP and 20MP telephoto lens with flash support. At the front, there's a 20MP camera selfie camera with Face Unlock support.

Embedded within the device to power it is a Snapdragon 845 processor paired with Adreno 630 GPU. There isn't any speaker grille at the button, instead, Meizu says that it integrated its mSound 2.0 technology which it claims uses the phone's screen as a speaker and as well an earpiece.

Other features includes an IP68 dust and water-resistant, Bluetooth v5, 18W wireless charging support and more. The device will be available in Black and White glossy back panel finishes.

For now, we don't know the RAM size, internal storage, pricing, availability and other gosip regarding the device.

Meizu notes that it still has to get regulatory approvals for the eSIM before the smartphone can be launched in the Chinese markets. No words on international availability.

The Meizu Zero comes just ahead of the Vivo Apex 2019 concept phone l;aunch, which is expected to be devoid of any physical buttons as well.
