After much teases, Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Note 7, a budget smartphone with eye-catching specifications and a premium design.
The Redmi Note will be the first device from Redmi after Xiaomi's announcement earlier this month that the Redmi range would become its sub-brand, leaving it to operate as an independent merk while focusing on e-commerce and cost efficient products.

The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a waterdrop notch, a 4,000mAh battery power, USB Type-C connectivity, 18 watt wired charging, an IR laster, a headphone jack and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset.
Mounted at the back of the device is a 48MP f/1.8 main camera (Samsung GM1, 0.8 micron pixels) and a 5MP camera for depth information. The company says the main camera is capable of making use of pixel-binning to take better shots, though at a 12MP resolution. At the front is a 13MP selfie camera.
There's a 3GB/32BG model which is sold for 999 yuan ($147), a 4GB/64GB model for 1,199 ($177), and a 6GB/64GB model for 1,399 yuan ($206).
Xiaomi also announce that a Redmi Note 7 Pro is under development. When it eventually comes out, the device will pack a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor instead of Samsung's 48MP camera on the ordinary version.
In relation to Xiaomi's announcement to make Redmi a sub-brand, the company's CEO Lei Jun said
The Redmi Note 7 will be available in China just in time for the Chinese New Year, after which it should make its way to other Xiaomi's markets around the world.
