Tencent Games has rolled out PlayerUnknown'sBattlegrounds (PUBG) for both Android and iOS platforms!

The game is available for Android and iOS users in the US and other countries and comes with a download size of nearly 900MB. This sudden launch comes as a surprise to many since PUBG Mobile last week Friday, had a soft launch on Android in Canada and has take no time in expanding to other countries.

However, the sudden global roll shouldn't sound as a surprise since Fornite, another online multiplayer battel game was released earlier this month. Fortnite has recordered huge success within a short span, topping the charts in iTunes in 47 countries and so far players have spent more than a million dollars on in-app purchases, despite the game being available for now only on an invite basis.

Canadian rapper Drake also contributed to Fornite's sudden growth when the rapper participated in a Twitch live-stream that broke streaming records. Though PUBG was the game that made the battle royale genre popular, Fornite is using that design to add to its exisiting xooperative survival game.

So what are the minimum requirements for PUBG to run on your Android or iOS device? Tencent recommends an iPhone 6 or above, and Android 5.1.1 with atleast 2GB RAM and also an internet connection.

PUBG Mobile runs oon Unreal Engine 4 and will support 100 players just as the PC version along with in-game voice chat to chat with friends. Tencent claims to have a powerful anti-cheating mechanisms.

Tencent owns Riot Games (the maker of League of Legends), has a controlling stake in Supercell (makers of Clash of Clans and other top games). They also have a 40 percent stake in Epic Games (maker of fortnite). WeChat and a host of others are owned by the company.

Ubisoft Games Suffers Massive Ddos Attacks, Servers Goes Offline

France based video game publisher Ubisosft on Tuesday, July 17th 2018 suffered several series of DDoS attacks (distributed denial-of-service) which sent several of their gaming servers offline.

A DDoS attack occurs when an attacker(s) send junk traffic from multiple systems to flood the bandwidth or resource of a targeted system so as to force it offline. The targeted system or server at the receiving end usually gets knocked out when their resource have been exhausted while trying to handle the overwhelming traffic.

Ubisoft acknowldegd the DDoS attack which knocked out several of their servers including Ghost Recon Wildlands. However, Honor and Far Cry 5 were facing connectivity issues.

A Tweet from Ubisoft's customer support Twitter handle confirmed the outage and said they were working on to mitigate the attacks.

"We're currently monitoring DDoS attacks impacting Ubisoft services and causing players to be unable to connect to games. The attacks are focused on our games connections and server latency, which we are working on mitigating. Thank you for your patience as we resolve this," the tweet read.
As of now, it is still unclear who was behind the attack or what their motive for the was. However, during the attack, concerned users kept asking questions, of which one user asked if the DDoS attack posed any risk to their personal information or if there was need for them to change their password.

In response, Ubisoft said, "We haven't had any indications that any information would be at risk." DDoS attack is the result of multiple compromised systems (botnet) which are used in flooding the victim with junk traffic.

We Have Some Bad News For Android Users Waiting For Fortnite

Fortnite battle royale game is pretty much available across many platforms apart from Android. Makers of Fortnite, Epic Games recently said the Android version of the game will be released during the summer and ever since then, different rumours regarding the game for Android have been making the rounds.

First, we heard rumours that Fortnite for Android won't work on low-end and mid-range Android devices like the way PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) does. Rumours had it that the game would be exclusively for Android flagship devices... wait, not just all the flagship but selected flagship devices!

Now news making the round suggest that the game might be a Galaxy Note 9 exclusive for the first 30 days. After play around with the source code from Fortnite Mobile page, xda-developers discovered that Epic Games plans to instruct users on how to download and install the game on their Android devices. The disturbing part of it is that there isn't any link that leads to the Google Play Store for users to download the game.

What this actually means is Fortnite in way is encouraging Android users to install apps outside of the Google Play Store as the instructions reads that users will have to allow installation of apps from unknown source. Below are the walk through images to install Fortnite posted by a Redittor who goes by the name of Thesbros.

Epic Games reason not to release the battle royale game on the Google Play Store is still unknown, though many suggests that Epic Games that wants to avoid paying the 30% of fee for in-app purchase to Google.

However, Apple users can only download Fortnite only from the Apple Store which means they have to pay the 30% to Apple for using its platform. Well, whatever reason Epic Games has, this move would cause more harm than good.

We have seen in the past where malware creators lured unsuspecting Android users into downloading fake malware ridden-game. Games such as Clash of Clans, Hey Day etc were tweaked and ridden with malware and made available on different sites during its reign days. Though the original of these games were on the Google Play Store, many droid users fell for the scam. Now more will be of Fornite that won't be available on the Play Store.
