It is no news that for years Android users have been using Microsoft's Bluetooth-enabled XBox controller to play games on their droid device. However, the process has always been buggy; others could never get button right, while others had other kinds of connection connection problems. Well, that seem to change.
This week, XDA Developers discovered that Google has added full support for XBox controller. The bug which has been around for two years (since August 2016) was finally addressed and yesterday marked by Google's development team as fixed. The controller should now work on Android Pie without issue.
The need for game controllers on smartphone increased after popular battle royale games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) were made available on iOS and Android platforms.
The increase in PC and Console game ports to mobile platforms might see other game controllers get the same support as the XBox controller has received.
Android Pie's native support for the XBox One controller means Fortnite and PUBG players with the controller should have an edge over other players ....ermm, not until you upgrade device to Android Pie.
