Microsoft is testing an experimental application called "Your Phone" app which gives users access to files on their Android devices from a Windows 10 PC. This app is aimed towards giving users uninterrupted work experience.
Sharing files between PC and your Android device might not sound new to others since there are other third-party apps and cloud services that serve similar purpose, Microsoft however promises that the Your Phone app will give users a more seamless way to access fies across devices.
Though this feature for now is available for those on Windows Insider in the Fast ring, we will look at what this Your Phone app does.
The Your Phone app links your Android device to your PC, giving the user access to the phones's text messages, notifications, photos and others files.
When you access Your Phone on a computer, you will see the most recent snapshots on your Android device. You will then have to drag and drop them straight into another app, like PowerPoint if you are doing a presentation.
According to Microsoft, you Android device must be running on Android 7.0 and above to be able to use the experimental feature.
For iPhone users, the Your Phone app too will help them in linking their phones to a PC. They would be able to surf the web on their phone and then send the web page to their PC to pickup where they left.
For now, there isn't any clear date on when the apps will be available for both Android and iOS users. Though, the apps are expected to be made available later this year as the apps are being tested as part of Microsoft's next Windows 10 update, codenamed Redstone 5.
