Whatsapp Users Can Now Delete Messages Sent By Mistake

WhatsApp has finally rolled out the feature that enable users to delete messages sent to other WhatsApp users.

This new "Delete for everyone"feature is available for Android, iOS and windows Phone users although WhatsApp announces on its FAQ page that the new feature isnt available to all users for now (even those with the latest version of WhatsApp) although it shouldn't take long before the update rolls out to all users.

WhatsApp explained that the Delete for everyone feature will be available for messages sent to groups and individual chats. When a message has been deleted, the deleted message would be replaced with "This message has been deleted" notice.

However, WhatsApp warns that you can only delete sent messages within 7 minutes from the time that it was sent. The user wont be able to delete the message if he or she wait longer than that 7 minutes limit.

Another factor necessary for the "Delete for everyone" feature is that both the sender and the recipient must have the latest version of WhatsApp, and also have the Delete for everyone feature enabled.

One major scare WhatsApp users are having is the fact that WhatsApp warns that recipient might see messages that were recalled , but did not delete successfully. Worse still, WhatsApp won't notify senders that their message(s) wasn't successfully deleted! So i urge those of you who might want to bombard your boss with "whatever it is kind of message" with hopes of deleting it should think twice before embarking on such.

Apple's Lisa Operating System Will Be Released For Free As Open Source In 2018

More than three decades ago, Apple unveiled the Apple Lisa, the first computer for the work place with a graphical user interface. Apple spent a reported 150 million developing the Lisa but then the computer became a great flop in the market, however, this also set the stage for conflict between CEO John Sculley and cofounder Steve Jobs.

According to Business  Insider, LISA which stands for Local Integrated System Architecture, will soon be made available in 2018 for free as open source by the Computer History Museum and anyone can try it out, modify and even create something new as it is with other open source operating system such as Linux. The news was announced though the LisaList mailing list for Lisa enthusiasts.

The Lisa computer cost $10,000 in 1983; if you factor the inflation, it will cost $24,000. This Lisa operating system was the first OS to bring some advanced features which included protected memory, sophisticated HDD-based OS, etc. However, IBM on the other hand was offering machines that were far cheaper .

Having failed to succeed with the Lisa, Apple launched the Lisa 2 in 1984 which cost half the price of the Lisa 1, but the Lisa 2 failed the same way as its predecessor. Apple later discontinued the Lisa production after launching the Macintosh. To save cash which they would use to pay as tax write-off, in 1989 Apple buried the last 2,700 Lisa computers at landfill in Utah.

Despite Lisa not being successful, the Operating system paved way for what became possible on PC at that time -- users could sort individual documents into folders, it required a mouse to operate and also had windows and icons.

Lisa operating system was the reason while Apple sued Microsoft over the first version of Windows, with Jobs claiming that Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates stole Lisa's technology. Countering the claim, Bill said "I think it's more like we both had this rich neighbour named Xerox, and i broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it."

Microsoft Edge Browser Update Will Warn Users When Reading Fake News

Microsoft has dropped an update to it's Edge browser for mobile, bringing a new feature that warns users when they are reading fake news.

The feature which is called "NewsGuard" is off by default. However, when enabled, the user will be warned when they visit a website that isn't news worthy.

NewsGuard is a startup company based in New York that aims at fighting the spread of fake news and not part of the Microsoft co-oporation. The company uses trained journalists whose ratings are based on "journalistic standards of credibility and transparency" to evaluate the news websites,

To enable the feature, the user is to go to the settings of the Microsoft Edge browser, click on News ratings and then toggle to activate.

Now that the feature has been enabled, whenever you visit any site on the web that is rated by NewsGuard, the feature will either indicate with a green shield that has a white check or a red shield with a white exclamation mark in the address bar.

As you might have thought, red means the site is untrustworthy while green means the site is trustworthy. Now when you tap on either of the icons, NewsGuard will provide details on its findings on the site.

For sites like The New York Times, MSNC, FOX and CNN all have the green shield in the URL kafe which means the sites "generally maintain basic standards of accuracy and accountability."

However, for sites such as RT, Daily Kos, Sputnik and the UK's Daily Mail, you will see a red shield with a white exclamation mark in the address kafe with a warning that tells you to "proceed with caution" that the website has failed to "maintain basic standards of accuracy and accountability."

This feature has met some criticism from many site owners who don't agree with the result. For now, the NewsGuard feature is available on the Android and iOS version of Edge browser.

Microsoft is testing an experimental application called "Your Phone" app which gives users access to files on their Android devices from a Windows 10 PC. This app is aimed towards giving users uninterrupted work experience.

Android Now Finally Supports Xbox One Controller For Gaming

It is no news that for years Android users have been using Microsoft's Bluetooth-enabled XBox controller to play games on their droid device. However, the process has always been buggy; others could never get button right, while others had other kinds of connection connection problems. Well, that seem to change.

This week, XDA Developers discovered that Google has added full support for XBox controller. The bug which has been around for two years (since August 2016) was finally addressed and yesterday marked by Google's development team as fixed. The controller should now work on Android Pie without issue.

The need for game controllers on smartphone increased after popular battle royale games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) were made available on iOS and Android platforms.

The increase in PC and Console game ports to mobile platforms might see other game controllers get the same support as the XBox controller has received.

Android Pie's native support for the XBox One controller means Fortnite and PUBG players with the controller should have an edge over other players ....ermm, not until you upgrade device to Android Pie.

Samsung Is Working On A Foldable Laptop

Foldable this, foldable that. For years we've been hearing news of foldable devices in the works by different tech companies but we are yet to see any of them make a release. These foldable devices ranges from smartphones, tablets, wearables, PC,e.t.c.
Among those trying to release a foldable device is Samsung. The South Korean electronic giant has been working on a foldable smartphone which is expected to be ready next year. However, news emerging suggests the tech company has plans for other gadgets too.

According to Korean media, Samsung's PC division VP for marketing, Lee Min-Cheol, "Samsung is collaborating with display makers to develop laptops and foldable displays that will not just simply fold in and out but create new value value and experience, amid the changing market trends for laptops."

Lee Min-Cheol went on to add that Samsung was also working with other manufacturers in flexible AMOLED display for the bendable laptop.

There is little real form of innovation in PC these days, consumers are tired of most of the products which are the same and doesn't add much value. To make things exciting again, Samsung have to go beyond creating a flexible device and make something that consumers can find utility in.

"PCs play a centric role among IT products in increasing connectivity with other mobile devices, so we will continue developing innovative PCs with partners like Intel, Microsoft and KT,"Lee Said.

The electronic giant sales around 3.2 million PCs annually in Korea, the US, China and Brazil, which cover  total of 45 percent of the entire PC market.
