Qualcomm Wants To Ban Iphone Sales In China

 In an effort to keep charging Apple over the use of its patents in China, Qualcomm has filed lawsuits against Apple in a move that could halt the production and sales of iPhones in China.

  According to the law suite filed in an intellectual property court in Beijing, the mobile chip manufacturer claimed that Apple violated its patents and the company is seeking injunctive relief over the misuse of its IP.

 Qualcomm which is the world biggest provider of mobile chips, gets a portion of revenue from licensing its technologies to hundreds of device makers. According to Qualcomm, the fee is charged based on the phone's value rather than the component.

 Now since Qualcomm owns patents related to 3G and 4G phones, phone makers that builds 3G and 4G capable phones will have to pay them a licensing fee even if they don't use Qualcomm chips. And thats including Apple who only wants to pay for the chips alone, and not the entire phone.

 Apple on its part has argued that Qualcomm is "effectively taxing Apple's innovation" and that Apple "shouldn't have to pay them for technology breakthroughs they have nothing to do with."

Sales Of Iphones Has Been Banned In China, But Qualcomm Is Still Pushing For More

The Fuzhou Immediate People's Court in China, on Monday banned the import and sales of select iPhones, following a lawsuit Qualcomm filed against Apple.

According to the law suite filled, the mobile chip manufacturer claimed Apple violated its patents, and the company demanded an injunctive relief over the misuse of its IP.

Due to the court ruling, Apple had to pull out her phones from iPhone 6s all the way to iPhone X, but didn't include the 2018 iPhone models that they are not affected by the ruling. However, the chipset maker thinks otherwise and now files for an injunction of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR in China in its next court battle with Apple. 

Following the ban on its products, Apple warned that the ban would hurt Chinese manufacturers like Foxconn, and at the same time renders 5 million of Chinese citizen jobless across its supply chain.

Court Effects Ban On Sales And Importation Of Iphone In Germany

Following US chip maker Qualcomm's lawsuit against Apple over patent infringements and royalties, a German court on Friday placed a ban on the sales of affected iPhones, ordering the tech giant to pull out all infringing iPhones from its German store and third party resellers out of the country.

If you recall, a German court in December 20, 2018 passed a ruling in favour of Qualcomm. However, the ruling couldn't be effected because Apple could appeal to a higher court which could overturn the injunction.

For the injunction to be enforced, the court told the US chip maker to post a security bond which which will be served as compensation to Apple in case a higher court later ruled in favour of Apple.

"Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that it has posted security bonds totaling €1.34 billion (Euros)," Qualcomm said in a placed a ban on the sales of the affected iPhone models in the country.

Apple is having a real hard time. From disappointing low sales to falling stocks, Apple isn't finding it funny.

However, there might be hope for Apple if the US Federal Trade Commission, which has dragged Qualcomm to court over abuse of licensing mobile chip patents, eventually wins the case.

After Chinese Ban, A German Court Too Has Banned Iphone Products In Country Only If...

A German court yesterday, passed a ruling in favour of US chipmaker Qualcomm in a dispute with Apple over patents infringements. The ruling could lead to a ban on sales of iPhones in Germany.

The patent claims in the dispute by the US chipmaker affects Apple's products, such as the iPhone 7, 7plus, 8, 8plus, and the X.

"The ruling effectively outlaws the offering and placing on the market of the finished product in Germany, including the sale. The iPhone 7plus, 7, 8, 8plus and the X are affected," the regional Munich court said.


However, since Apple can appeal the ruling from a higher court, the court said the injunction banning the sales of the affected Apple products can only be imposed if Qualcomm made a deposit of 668.4 million euros ($765 million) to serve as security, if things later goes in favour of Apple.

The 668.4 million euros the court is demanding is to serve as compensation to Apple if it carries out the injunction, and then a higher court overrules it.

Qualcomm and Apple, the two US tech companies whose headquarters are in California have been at logger heads with each other over royalties and patents. The two tech giants have taken their battle worldwide.

On Monday this week, a court in China banned the import of the above selected Apple products from the country, following the Qualcomms lawsuits against Apple.

Here Are The Specs And Price For The Google Pixel 3 And Pixel 3 Xl

Its official! Google has finally unveiled the Pixel devices during its launch on Tuesday after weeks of rumours and leaks.

As most of the rumours suggests, the Pixel 3 comes with slim bezels at the button and top (though the bezels are still big compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9). The Pixel 3 XL however, has a different look. The device comes with a notch... yes, i said a notch and a trimmed bezels.

The Google Pixel 3 XL carries a larger battery and display bigger than the Pixel 3. Though that doesn't mean that the Pixel 3 is a lesser phone. From the specs above, the Pixel 3 carries the same camera, same Snapdragon 845 chipset, wireless charging and does offer the same experience as it is on the bigger Pixel XL.


This years Pixel devices are bigger than last years model. The Pixel 3 comes with a 5.5-inch display while the Pixel 3 XL comes with a 6.3-inch display.

Google's focus on its Pixel devices have always been the cameras. This years device comes with two front-facing selfie cameras to deliver the perfect group selfie. The camera delivers wide and regular selfies.

The Google devices will run on Android 9 Pie to give users the best Android experience. There is also a gesture capability on the Pixel devices.

Google has promised that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will receive software updates for at least three years. Those interested in the Pixel phones should expect update till 2021, maybe Google might still extend the date for them.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will come in three colour variant; White, Black and Pink. The Pixel 3 will be sold at a starting price of $899 and $869. The Pixel stand, the wireless charger will be sold for $79.

Samsung Galaxy A8s Launched With Infinity-O Display, Triple Camera Setup

Samsung Mobile today launched the Galaxy A8s in China, sporting the much awaited Infinity-O Display from the electronic maker.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s (along with Honor View 20) is the first smartphone to be unveiled with a punch-hole style housing the camera. This device from Samsung is the first from the smartphone maker that will sport a truly bezel-less display screen.


As i mentioned above, Honor also announced the Honor View20 today in a bid to challenge Samsung from taking the credit of being the first to launch a device with that display. While Samsung fully launched the Galaxy A8s, Honor only announced the Honor View20 which is to be fully launched in Paris in January 22, 2019.

The Samsung Galaxy A8s comes with a 6.4-inch (1080x2340 pixels) Full HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Within the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC paired with Adreno 616 GPU powering the device. There's a 6GB and 8GB RAM option for users, as both variants comes with 128GB of internal storage. Storage can be expanded via microSD up to 512GB.

At the rear of the device is a triple camera setup; there's a 24-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 5-megeapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture to aid in more depth in photos, and there's a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.4 that can offer 2X optical zoom.

The hole in the device display houses a 24-megapixel front facing selfie camera.

Other specs includes a 3,400mAh battery with fast charging support, NFC support, a USB type-C port, finger print scanner, and there's no headphone jack on the device.

Colour available for the device Black (Green), Blue, and Silver colour options in China, and pre-order for the device will soon be available, and thats when pricing will also be made available.

Prices And Specs Of The Newly Released Blackberry Key2 Le

TCL, the company building Blackberry devices has officially announced the Key2 LE, a cheaper version of the Key2 that was released earlier this year.

The Blackberry Key2 LE is a trimmed down version of the Key2. Its mid-range specs can be seen below.

The Blackberry Key2 LE is less expensive than the Key2 and so are the specifications. The Key2 LE has a Snapdragon 635 processor while the Key2 has a bigger 660 Snapdragon processor. The Key2 LE houses a 4GB RAM instead of 6GB RAM, and a 3,000mAH battery capacity instead of the 3,500mAH that the Key2 has.


What else does the Blackberry device has? Well, the Key2 LE comes with all the usual Blackberry enhanced security features, privacy control, Blackberry Hub, supports Google Pay and the regular Blackberry software that you can think of.

The device will be shipped with Android 8.1 Oreo, however, users will be interested in knowing when Android 9 Pie will be arrive for the device since it took about seven months for the KEYone to get an Oreo update.

The key2 LE will be available for sale next month in three colours which are Slate, Champagne and Atomic. The 32GB of the device will be sold for $399 in the US, $519 in Canada €399 in Europe, and £349 in the UK.

For the 64GB version, the price will b $466 in the US, $579 in Canada, €429 in Europe, and £399 in the UK.

Google Pixel 2 & Xl Launches, Beats Iphone 8 Plus And Samsung Note 8 Cameras

Google on Wednesday launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, the second generation of the Pixel smartphones.

The Pixel 2 devices which Google described as the world's best camera smartphone, will compete with other devices such as Apple's iPhone 8 and X, Samsung Galaxy's Note 8 and LG's G6 in the premium segment.

The Pixel 2 has a 5-inch OLED Cinematic 127-mm full-HD (1080 x 1920) display while the larger Pixel XL comes with a 6-inch QHD+ (2880 x 1440) P-OLED  display with 18:9 ratio. The two Pixel devices are powered by Android Oreo and comes equipped with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
 Both Pixel phones comes with an impressive 12.2 rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and optical and electronic image stabilization. Sitting in the front is an 8-mega pixel camera with f/2.4. The pixel device can take close-up photos without the need of the second lens to blur the background, beating rival device to this feature.

"Pixel 2 is loaded with a better camera that not only lets you take great pictures but helps you understand the world around you," Google said

The Pixel devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB and 128GB variants. The Pixel 2 has a 2700mAH battery while the Pixel 2 XL has a 3520mAH battery capacity.
The Pixel devices are waterproof, comes with a curved screen , narrow screen and squeezable sides. And yes, Google pissed most of its user off by removing the headphone jack on the pixel devices!

Google would be selling the Pixel 2 which would be available in black, blue and white for £629 which is for the 64GB device and £729 for the 128GB variant. The Pixel XL which would comes only in black would cost £799 for the 64GB version while the 128GB version would cost £899.

Those who ordered for the Pixel will have to wait until October 19 to get the device, while those who made order for the Pixel Xl will have to wait until November 15

Xiaomi Launches Mi 9 With 48Mp Camera, 20W Wireless Charging, 12Gb Ram And In-Screen Finger Print Reader

Xiaomi has launched the Mi 9 device in China, and the device features an impressive camera, display and RAM size.

The Mi 9 which the successor to the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro, features a 6.39-inch 1080p AMOLED display that houses a much smaller waterdrop notch.

Embedded within the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 GPU and as well a new faster NFC.

There's a 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide camera that makes up the triple camera setupat the back of the photo. While at the front, there's a 20MP selfie snapper which has the same Sony sensor as the Honor View20, but there isn't an IR Face Unlock, and no headphone jack.


The Mi 9 comes with 3,300mAh battery power that supports up to 20W wireless charging, in-display fingerprint scanner, dual-frequency GPS. Depending on the version, there's a 6GB RAM, 8GB and 12GB of RAM (LPDDR4x).

For the inbuilt storage, all the standard versions have 128GB of internal storage while the Transparent Edition with faux internals comes with 256GB of inbuilt storage.

Xiaomi also launched a trimmed down version ... the Mi 9SE which specs a 5.99-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 712 processor, has the 48MP triple lens camera setup, and as well the same size as its bigger siblings.

Iphone X Outperforms Samsung Galaxy Note 9 In Benchmark Result

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 device is finally out, and as it is a flagship device, the Galaxy Note 9 will be compared with other flagship devices to see if it out-performs or under-performs.

According to benchmark results from Tom's Guide, the iPhone X outperformed the Galaxy Note 9. However, it is worth you know that the phone used in this test is the Galaxy Note 9 that runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset (trimmed down version) and not the bigger one which is powered by Exynos 9810.

The Galaxy Note 9 benchmark score for Multicore in GeekBench 4 was 8,876, while the iPhone X still stood at an impressive 10,357 points, and the OnePlus 6 (8GB RAM) got a score of 9.088.

In 3DMark Slingshot Extreme 3.1, the Galaxy Note 9 got a score of 4,639, falling behind the iPhone X which scored 4,994. OnePlus, however, won this round with a score of 5,124 points.


Tom's Guide read:

"Slingshot Extreme is the most demanding graphics test in 3DMark's mobile arsenal, and the Note 9 fared pretty well, but it's outperformed by both the iPhone X and OnePlus 6.

"The Galaxy Note 9 scored 4,639, which is slightly better than the Galaxy S9+ (4,634) and ahead of the LG G7 (4,201). However, the OnePlus 6 with *GB of RAM smoke the Note 9 with a score of 5,124 and the iPhone X (4,994) also fared better."

The Galaxy Note 9 got an impressive score in display testing. "The device AMOLED panel registered an impressive 224 percent of the sRGB color gamut, which is far better than the iPhone X's 128.6 percent." The Galaxy Note 9 does emits 604 nits brightness which is brighter than the 574 nits on the iPhone X.

We know that benchmark results don't always reflect real-life performance, however, further test results will prove if the Galaxy Note 9 hasn't toppled the iPhone X or not.

Samsung yesterday launched its Galaxy S10 family of flagship devices, and as well gave us a look at what its first foldable phone will look like.

According to Samsung mobile press, the foldable device will open and close like a book as earlier shown by the tech giant before. There's screen on the outside that lets you to use the Galaxy Fold like a phone, and as well a larger screen on the inside that lets you to use the phone like a tablet.

The has a 4.6-inches Quad HD+ outer display 21:9 aspect ratio, while the inner display is a 7.3-inch QXGA+ screen.

To let users easily transit apps running on the outer screen to the inner one when they unfold the device, Google added a feature called App Continuity to aid in this aspect.


There's a 7nm, 64bit octa-core processor powering the Galaxy Fold which Samsung didn't reveal if it was its own Exynos line or Qualcomm's Snapdragon line. The device runs on a monster 12GB RAM, has 512GB of internal storage but doesn't have any microSD slot for those who want to  expand their memory.

Another thing on this device are the cameras. The Galaxy Fold has about six cameras on it: There's a selfie camera at the front when the device folds, three cameras at the back (ultra-wide, wide and telephoto), and two front facing cameras when the user unfolds the Galaxy device.

The Galaxy Fold is said to be one of the most expensive devices in the world, with the 4G LTE version starting at $1,980. For now, there's no word on the amount for the 5G version. However, the Galaxy Fold device should be available in retail stores by April 26.
