Red Dead Redemption 2 Rakes Over $725 Million Worldwide In Opening Week Sales


Western-themed action-adventure video game, Red Dead Redemption 2, has made over $725 million in worldwide retail sales during its opening weekend.


According to Take-Two's Rockstar Games Studio, the Red Dead title was the most pre-ordered full game ever on the PlayStation network.

The heavy sales saw the shares of Take-Two skyrocket 11.9 percent higher at $125.05 in premarket trading on Tuesday.

Best known for Grand Theft Auto, Take-Two said Red Dead has sold-in over 21 million units worldwide, including over 16 million units of its first installation.


Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western-themed action-adventure games set in an open world environment. The game is set in 1899 and follows the story of Arthur Morgan and his gang of outlaw who fight their way across America following a botched robbery.

The game can be played from either a third or first person perspective with the player controlling Arthur Morgan. Red Dead Redemption 2 also features both single-player and online multiplayer components.

The game is a prequel to the 2010 Red Dead Redemption, and the third entry in the Red Dead series

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally slated for launch in the fall of 2017, but was delayed two times.
